4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect, October 26, 2009
This review is from: Black & Decker RC3303 3-Cup (Cooked) Rice Cooker (Kitchen)
Ever since I purchased this item, I've been using it almost every single day! It is extremely convenient and is a snap to use. I live in a small apartment and this is the perfect size for one person. I always cook 1 cup of uncooked rice and it is a hearty serving for one person. It is very easy to measure all your ingredients because the non-stick bowl has marked lines on the inside (1 cup, 2 cup, and 3 cup) to show you how much water to add. Clean-up is a breeze because of the non-stick bowl.

My favorite rice to make is jasmine rice with lots of lime juice, a little lemon juice, and cilantro. I add the rice to the non-stick bowl (1 cup uncooked). Then I add enough lime juice so that all of the rice is wet and soaking in it. Then I add just a little bit of lemon juice (1-2 tsp.). Then add a bit of butter and some salt. After rice is cooked, mix in 2 tsp. of cilantro and stir well. It's delicious and it's the only rice I ever make.

The only problem with... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Small enough to take it with you.., January 29, 2010

This review is from: Black & Decker RC3303 3-Cup (Cooked) Rice Cooker (Kitchen)
I take this little rice cooker every where I fly, I've been a flight attendant for Delta for years and not every layover is "let's see where we can eat out tonight?" I enjoy bringing my own food and like to have it while I relax in my hotel room. I use this rice cooker to heat up my food/soup/oat meal/whatever, or making myself a bowl of hot noodle. It cooks rice perfectly and it will keep it warm overnight. It will work anywhere if there is a 110 volts, that means I bring my own transformer when I travel overseas. It's easy to clean and as long as I don't drop it on the floor, it keeps on cooking. You can say that my little rice cooker has many miles on it.......

This makes just enough rice for two people. It takes about 35 minutes for white rice to completely cook. You put in the rice with tap water, and need to stir it once the water starts boiling. Then, after the cooking cycle is complete, let it steam for 10 minutes or so. It works great for my needs. I purposely wanted something small enough to sit on my counter and this fits the bill perfectly. Nice product. Good quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fuzzy logic Panasonic rice cooker vs. old school Aroma rice cooker, June 20, 2011

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
My original review can be found below beginning with "The bad news is...". However, after writing the review I did a head-to-head comparison with my old school, non-fuzzy logic Aroma ARC-820SW rice cooker (see customer photo). I began cooking at the exact same time with the exact same quantities of Calrose rice (2 cups) and water. I wanted to see if the fuzzy logic machines cooked any better than the old school rice cookers that most of us have used.

The rice was finished cooking in the Aroma cooker probably 15 minutes before the Panasonic finished cooking. You could hear the Panasonic's fuzzy logic constantly cycling the heat on and off during the cooking cycle.

The differences between the two were dramatic. The rice cooked in the Aroma was somewhat dry, very unevenly cooked and somewhat burnt and crispy on the bottom. It was still edible and even enjoyable in a way, but crispy on the bottom nonetheless. The rice cooked in the Panasonic was moist, plump,... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Its A Keeper, July 2, 2011
This review is from: Panasonic SR-DE103 5-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker (Kitchen)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
I didn't really have it in mind to retire our old banged up rice cooker. After all it still worked to some degree. However, when given the opportunity to take the Panasonic Microcomputer SR-DE103 Fuzzy Logic model for a test drive, things changed. After a little over three weeks use these are my thoughts.

Out of the box, this white finished model comes with a steaming basket, measuring cup, rice scoop, instructions, recipes and warranty. After going over the instructions I was ready to begin. Right off the bat, I knew this was no ordinary rice cooker. The programmable menu options allows for making not only rice, but soups, cakes, oatmeal and etc;. The Advanced Fuzzy Logic Technology is not rocket science by any means. Pure and simple it refers to the automatic adjustment of power and cooking time. It easily cooks up to 10 cups of rice.

Some of the features that makes this a keeper besides the programmable menu are the carrying handle, the push button lid... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Rice Cooker!, October 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic SR-DE103 5-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker (Kitchen)
Out of the four rice cookers I've owned (Wolf Gang Puck, an "cheap" model of Zojirushi and two Aromas) this has to be my favorite. I've used it at least a dozen times now to cook rice and every time each grain comes out perfect. The taste of the rice compared to a non fuzzy-logic rice cooker is something you would have to try for yourself to believe. There is absolutely no comparison. I mostly cook sticky rice, as I just generally enjoy the texture of it, and it has come out perfect every time. With the Wolf Gang Puck and Aroma cookers, there would always be random hard grains and a dark brown crust stuck to the bottom of the pan. That does not happen with his cooker.

I know the cake function seems a bit silly, but it's not! I just tried it for the first time, baking a cake from a Vitamuffin mix and the thing cooked to absolute perfection. I baked it for 40 minutes on the cake setting. After about ten minutes of cooling, I fliped the cake upside down on a plate to release... Read more

I enjoy steamed veggies as well as rice. This rice cooker/steamer is just perfect for making rice and veggies at the same time. Baby carrots never tasted better and the broccoli florets stay together and at just the right texture. To top that off you also have perfect rice all at the same time. I would definite recommend this product to anyone who is a rice lover and also likes to steam. Priced reasonably too!

This review is from: Aroma ARC-737-1G 14-Cups Rice Cooker & Food Steamer (Kitchen)
I bought the Aroma ARC-737-1G 7-Cup Pot-Style Rice Cooker for a reasonable price. So far, I am very happy with it. Rice and vegetables come out nicely done in less than ten minutes. Once you know the right amount of water to use rice won't stick to it.I have use cookers that cost is tree times more and, I can tell you they are not worth it.
The Aroma ARC-1G7 is lighter and easier to use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love that it steams too!, November 30, 2010
By

This review is from: Aroma ARC-737-1G 14-Cups Rice Cooker & Food Steamer (Kitchen)
Love that I can cook my broccoli and rice at the same time. I like that this cooker also knows exactly how long to cook the rice. It never burns. If you buy this combo I would recommend that once the cooker has steamed your veggies, take the veggies off the cooker once it has switched from cook to warm. I found that by leaving my broccoli on there in the warm cycle, it became too mushy. I like my broccoli a bit more crisp. So now I take it off after it has cooked. The only thing I didn't like about this combo is that it's not non-stick. The rice sticks to the bottom but isn't a big deal to clean once it has sat in water for a few minutes. Besides, I'm not sure how safe the non-stick coating is for us human beings. I would buy this product for a loved one in a heart beat. It has a great price point as well.
